It is easy to see why:
It's because he's so stuck up in his dogma that he has to distort things and
sideline argumentation. It's because he hasn't anything positive to say
about the original subject of how we could go about trying to build an
efficient language for easy storage and retrieval.
That was the original subject I raised with Roly Sookias. See Hermit's
reaction and compare to Joe Dee's reaction when I posted about the same
earlier in the archives. The discussion with Joe was brief but to the point,
a worthy, respectful and friendly exchange, whereby maybe I communicated to
Joe some stuff he didn't know about, and most definitely he taught me a few
things. The discussion ended with Joe's suggestion that I check out
Wittgenstein's work as he had also worked on some similar things. I didn't
know about Wittgenstein before that.
How more enriching and positive an exchange is this as compared to the
useless drivel that self-serving Hermit has posted with the same form of
dogmatism and extremism that supposedly he abhors from the part of the
religious!
I did come about Trachtenberg's system as you mentioned and it was very
interesting to see. This is how I like discussions to be: an enriching
exchange. That's how my friends are. When I socialise I like to be with
bright people with open minds who appreciate sharing.

brining up Sulbasutras??? The sloka that Yash references was to remember
whatever the value of Pi <or whatever Pi represented> was upto 32 places..it
was not a formula for the determination of Pi. It IS an Mneumonic aid...
