Normally I get raving munchies, which is part of why I went on a fast in the
first place!

There is a popular perception that pot is a good remedy for anorexia
nervosa. There were a number of cases before the South African courts where
this "fact" was presented in mitigation. One that I can recall was the case
of an up-and-coming young gymnast who was arrested at an airport for
possession (I think her name was Debbie Bingham but I'm not sure.) - she
claimed that she smoked in order to improve her appetite because she needed
to gain weight for competitive reasons.

This business of fasting worries me. As far as I know, no responsible
nutritionist would recommend such a course of action. I have read that it
could. in fact, be counter-productive if weight loss is the objective,
because the body becomes very conservative about energy rationing in case it
is subjected, once again, to a regime of deprivation. The consequences of
this are that the body will tend to store as much energy as possible in the
form of fat and the owner will have a lot less joi de vivre (sp?).

As a life long mesomorph, I have found that the only way to maintain a
reasonable weight is to eat like a primate - lots of fruit, grains, cereals
and root vegetables, with some occasional light protein. Most important is
to behave like a primate - have a physically active lifestyle!

That said, I have to confess that the last time my abdominal muscles were
sighted was some seven or eight years ago; long ago enough to be declared
legally dead!

I must also hasten to add that I am by no means an expert in diet and
nutrition so please regard the above from whence it comes.

Best wishes for your success

PS. Don't let anyone tell you that pot is not addictive! Whilst it is not
common, it is definitely possible to become addicted. Those cannabinoid
receptors can bitch like hell if they do not get their accustomed daily
allowance. On this,at least, I can speak with some authority.
