The original reason for this debate was my noting that much current thinking suggests that slave labour was not used to construct the pyramids.

In fact, the question of whether slave labor was used to construct the pyramids was left open.
I would really want to know more about it. My current view is that slave labor was a historical necessity for that socio-economic stage. So, any evidence that the pyramids were built by hired labor or volunteers or any other way would cast doubt on this view, and I would have to give it some serious thought.
