The human faculty for internally contriving a sensory experiential 'goal state'(e.g. "fantasies", etc.), along with an experiential feedback strategy for achieving that goal state, _is_ the work of evolution (if that theory be comprehensive).
Our onus is determining whether our internal goal states and strategies are compatible with external environmental constraints. To address this ever-present conundrum, mankind has evolved the self-refining environmental analysis algorithm we generally refer to as "the scientific method". Being as it is a relatively new device, and challenges anachronistic "world view" algorithms, and their entrenched self-maintaining maintenance hierarchies (arguably combined with some primitive 'guild'-like tendencies of its own wanna-be authoritarian hierarchies), the scientific method is still foreign to a huge percentage of the earth's human population. 'Evolution' is more 'progressive' when guided (or 'focused') by its own 'history', rather than "blind(as in purely random)variety (as in 'happenstance')".
The more tools I have, the more tools I can build.
I build with what I have already built. (I build my own self-embodied "history".)
