Stuff of life found far from Earth
Data returned by Nasa's soon-to-be-abandoned Hubble Space Telescope shows
the presence of two basic building blocks of life 150 light years from
Earth.
Carbon and oxygen have been found bleeding off the atmosphere of the extra
solar planet HD 209458b. Dubbed Osiris, the Jupiter-like planet is the first
beyond the Earth's solar system to contain elements required for life as we
know it, says Alfred Vidai-Madjar, director of the study, which was
undertaken by the European Space Agency.
